Storybook Destinations was graciously offered a spot to tour the Disney Treasure while she was in New York City on November 20th. I accepted the invitation from Tammy (our amazing leader!) to represent us and to get as many pictures and as much information as possible.
The plan was to arrive at Pier 88 around 1:45pm to check-in, get credentials and a Key To the World card for scanning on and off the ship. I arrived around 12:30pm as I wanted to get pictures of the Disney Treasure from the outside and I squealed when I first saw her! After I snapped a few pictures, I went inside and did my check in and collected my items.
There were two groups of 20 Travel Agents, and we gathered with our two guides and proceeded to get on the ship. The excitement was palpable, and I was getting all giddy inside thinking about walking across that platform to enter the ship! EEK! I know many of you would recognize the signature “Disney cruise smell,” and it hit hard, haha! I was home! 🙂
Immediately upon entering the ship, I let out a W O W and had to get my emotions in check. The ship is truly STUNNING, and my first observation was that everything is much brighter in person! Some of the renderings show the ship perhaps a little darker, but this was not the case! It was a noticeable difference in my opinion. We were given a quick highlight of the Grand Hall and some of the meaning behind the designs. The chandelier above has six lanterns that represent the current Disney ships!
We were able to tour 1923 (very similar to the Disney Wish,) and then we were led to Plaza de Coco and WOW! In true Disney fashion, the detailing is amazing! The groups were able to sit at the tables, and we were given a presentation about the details that went into the food, the decor, the musicians selected, etc. Interesting fact – the chocolate used in the decadent dessert is imported and hand-selected from Mexico in the region it is known for as the quality was important for Disney. We also were given a quick few minutes to hear the Mariachi band playing on the center stage and it was just amazing! TIP – when you are entering the restaurant, take time to observe all the details in the artwork and the heritage it represents!
Our next visit was going up on deck (and saying “ooh and ahh” every time we saw something new!) to visit Jumbeaux’s Sweets! Like the other Disney ships, it’s a bright and colorful area with lots of treats you can purchase for a small fee including yummy gelato, decorated rice crispy snacks, etc.
We then went out on the deck and walked by Minnie’s Delights, Goofy’s Grill, and Mickey’s Smokestack Barbecue. Many of you will remember the same currently exists on the Disney Wish and the food is so yummy! This brought us to the beginning of the stateroom tours!
The staterooms are well depicted in the pictures already released; however, they feel much brighter in person! The theming on the different levels is fun, and, as always, pay attention to the different carpets, the lighting in the ceiling in the hallways, etc. The big carpet outside the elevator banks and near the steps represents some of the theming on that level. The “fish extenders” look a little different, and the carpet is completely different in the stateroom hallways!
As we walked around other parts of the ship to get to the Walt Disney Theatre for a preview of “Moana,” I continued to internally squeal with excitement, seeing it all. I won’t give any spoilers for the Moana show, but I felt privileged being in the group that was the first true audience for the crew and it was beautifully done and a WOW! Definitely check it out when you are on the Disney Treasure!
Our last bit of the tour was a little “hurried” as there were a few technical difficulties during the Moana show that had to be reset, but our guides were determined for us not to miss anything! Many of us were so ready to see the Haunted Mansion Parlor and several of the other pubs and clubs. We were brought into the Periscope Pub, and it was amazing! You’ll notice 718 above the sign and sprinkled in places throughout the Pub, as 718 is the hull number where she was built in Papenburg, Germany.
Next, we walked very quickly by the shops and Skipper Society to the Haunted Mansion Parlor. I’m pretty sure it will be a big hit and it really is AMAZING! I won’t give away any spoilers but in true Disney style, so well done! After we left the Haunted Mansion, we went to the Scat Cat Lounge – it’s another great place to hang out and enjoy! Be sure to check out the glass chandelier above the piano and the “Aladdin” vibe. So pretty!
The tour came to an end in the Grand Hall, where Adventure Minnie was high on the balcony waving to us! I desperately wanted to be a stowaway but alas, I had to exit the ship! Several of us will be sailing on January 11, 2025, and we look forward to bringing more content and updates along the way!
If you have the Disney Treasure booked – you are truly in for a treat. If you don’t – WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? 🙂
