Concierge on any Disney ship is a luxury, but concierge on the Disney Wish is another level. Disney took a cue from other cruise lines and realized that, as great as their concierge is, they had an opportunity to do even more on the Wish. So they did! And here are some of the things they did..
1. The lounge is Spectacular – This lounge is huge. And gorgeous! It’s located on deck 12 forward, near most of the concierge rooms. Even with almost twice the number of concierge rooms, it never felt overly crowded to me. The lounge is where you will find your concierge hosts, also known as your favorite people onboard. Among other things we will talk about below, it’s also where you’ll find free drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, every evening!
2. The Sundeck is Wonderful – The sundeck is equally impressive. You can access it from deck 13, via stairs in the lounge, or stairs on the private deck area right outside the lounge. It’s large, has two hot tubs, and a wading pool. There are lots of comfortable loungers and chairs, with as much shade as you can want. There’s also a full bar out there, a fridge full of canned and bottled drinks, and a self-serve smoothie machine with a Dole Whip flavor! I gotta tell you, I was sad it took us a few days to notice that last one!
3. There is a Dedicated Kitchen – All of the concierge lounges across the fleet offer finger foods and snacks throughout the day. And the Wish is no exception! There are two great display cases of food, with some treats that stick around all day, like gummy bears! They also have a large selection of chocolate truffles in the evenings! The biggest change though is a dedicated kitchen for the lounge. In addition to all the above, three times a day there is a menu with a hot food selection you can order from! No more leaving the lounge to find Mickey waffles! We ate breakfast there every morning and it was great.
4. Concierge Guests Have a Private Theatre Entrance – All of the ships have adopted this great perk where concierge guests are invited to meet 30-45 minutes before show time and then are escorted into an empty theater before everyone else is admitted. No more scrambling for good seats, or waiting in long lines outside! The Wish has dedicated a private entrance and meeting area on deck 2, near the kid’s clubs, for this purpose.
5. Concierge Guests Get Free Popcorn – This is another one that is on all the ships now, and while popcorn may not seem like a big deal, it is to some people! Me. I’m talking about me. I LOVE hot popcorn. It doesn’t seem to matter how full I am, or how recently I ate, when I smell that popcorn popping, I want it. And I get it a whole lot more when it’s free!
6. There are Upgraded Robes – In another exciting development, all the staterooms onboard the Wish have robes! That was super exciting to me. Well in concierge, they’re even nicer! They’re thick and incredibly soft. The slippers are great too!
7. The Concierge Hosts are Wonderful – I am a big fan of the concierge hosts onboard. Huge. They’re the best of the best. And while on the Wish they are adjusting to having almost twice the number of concierge guests as on the other ships, they are handling the challenge with grace. On a recent cruise, when boarding was slightly delayed, the hosts met us in the port-side lounge before we even boarded the ship! These hosts will do everything in their power to make your cruise amazing.
8. Concierge Guests Get Free Internet – The new internet packages on the Wish are wonderful. No more paying by the byte, and not understanding where it was going. You can buy it by the day, or for the length of the cruise. Concierge guests get the first 24 hours free, and some of the top tier suites get unlimted internet for everyone! That’s a great way to test it or get some things done before unplugging!
9. Concierge Guests Have Special Merch – Recently some of the ships have started offering merchandise only to concierge guests, and on the Wish they have Nike Dri-FIT hats with the concierge logo. They are great hats!
10. There’s a New Room Type – If you haven’t heard, the new room type – 3B – Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom is amazing. It’s definitely one of my favorite staterooms I’ve ever stayed in. There are only 7 of them, and they are located all the way Forward, directly above the bridge, on deck 11. They have no verandah, which is a first for concierge rooms on Disney, and I thought I would miss it, but I loved the view so much, I didn’t miss it at all! The windows are floor to ceiling (with a short ledge on the bottom wide enough to sit on) and have unparalleled views off the ship’s bow. I loved it!
